Michael Grainger left his job as an engineer for BT and took the leap to set up his own business, Ely Telecom.

Son of Michael, Stuart, joins the business as an apprentice engineer

Ely Telecom outgrow the family home's garage and expand into two further outbuildings in the garden.

PROJECT EXPANSION AT ELY CATHEDRAL

As business booms, Ely Telecom secure repeat business with Ely Cathedral to install a new fibre and copper infrastructure across the Ely Cathedral Estate

Ely Telecom win a 1500 cat5e network cabling project at Cambridge Science Park.

Ely Telecom secure their first IP CCTV installation project for Cambridge University with 25 Axis IP CCTV Cameras.

ELY TELECOM EXPANDS INTO AUDIO VISUAL

Ely Telecom expand into the audio visual market and secure their first project installing 30 smart interactive boards and 30 projectors for Witchford Village College.

FIRST OFFICE UNIT OPENS

Ely Telecom has outgrown the family home, and moves into a professional business unit just outside of Ely.

After an increase in demand for security systems, FWD IP branch out to offer a range of security installs for businesses across East Anglia.

Retirement
MICHAEL GRAINGER RETIRES

After 18 years building the business up, Michael retires from full time duties and hands over to his son Stuart who takes on the role of Managing Director.

ELY TELECOM REBRANDS TO FWD-IP

After two decades as Ely Telecom, MD Stuart decides to re-brand the business to FWD-IP to reflect the new services the business offers.

FIRST NOKIA POL INSTALLATION

FWD-IP are the first business to install Nokia's Passive Optical Lan (POL) system across Europe.

FWD-IP WINS PROJECT WITH ST.JOHNS COLLEGE

FWD-IP win a major project to install 240 cat6a network and wireless access points across the student accommodation for St.John's College, Cambridge.
